Avowed’s Hidden Setting: Obsidian’s Trolling or a Big Mistake?

Avowed has made an impressive debut, even before its official launch, it’s ranked third on Steam charts. It seems that many players have already gotten a hold of this game. However, the challenge lies in the fact that these hands, eager to explore the game, are met with restrictions for now.

It’s worth mentioning, from our viewpoint at Windows Central. We stumbled upon a hidden setting deep within the UI settings just the other day: a switch that could have been beneficial 50 hours prior! Have you heard about enabling Totem Discovery? Surprisingly, neither did we!

How do you enable totem discovery?

Navigate to the primary menu, then find your way to the User Interface Settings. Once there, keep moving down until you reach the «Compass — Divine Shine Token» section. By default, this feature is turned off. Change that by activating it.

I must clarify that I adore Avowed wholeheartedly, without a doubt. It’s been nothing short of amazing and we all share this affection for it. The Internet raves about it too! However, I’m puzzled as to why they initiated its deactivation at the outset. It seems odd, almost like they’re trying to undermine the player experience intentionally. Can’t think of any other reason for shutting it down.

Were you suggesting that we should exhaustively search every inch of the map, even the smallest corners, just to find an additional bit of power, my friend Xaurip?

That seems like the most logical reasoning I can come up with, but it’s quite perplexing. Given all other features are activated on the user interface, why disable the one that could potentially reduce gaming time by hours?

Remember, I worked on clearing the initial region for more than 25 hours, excluding the gathering of Totems. I stopped once I was content with my time within that area, but I’m still not completely done.

Now I find myself feeling deceived. If only I’d noticed that one setting in the menu earlier, my time here could have been better utilized. Was it a mistake to overlook the UI settings? Alas, Eothas, I can’t help but blame myself for something entirely Obsidian’s doing.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but yearn for justice regarding the wrongs that have been committed. When one of our teammates shared the menu setting with everyone in our group chat, it sent me into a frenzy, as we had spent hours delving into game maps together in pursuit of the Totems. My heart is heavy because those precious hours could have been utilized more productively, perhaps for amassing loot or progressing towards my next thrilling adventure.

By Grabthar’s power, my gaming hours will be made up for. Frankly, Obsidian, I can’t say exactly what I’ll do, but it will be somewhat petty. If I ever cross paths with one of the developers in real life, I’ll definitely call them a poor sport. That should teach them a lesson!

Well, let’s get this going, shall we? Please activate the relevant setting, my friends. And don’t forget to update your game! The latest patch notes indicate that the God Shrine Totem Pieces have been activated by default. Apologies for any inconvenience, Windows Central.
